Wow do I need this. Gold "Court and Spark." Spotted by a co-worker on the walk back to the hotel after a late and moderately rowdy dinner.

Can someone "Help Me" buy this?

I guess if I was "Raised on Robbery" I could just steal it.

But that would be "Twisted."

My birthday's coming up. If you gots $4500 and wanna deal, it's at Gotta Have It on 57th, between 2nd and 3rd.

After a nice run of front page coverage of what's really going on in Iraq, this morning USA Today goes back to earning the title of McPaper with this crass little tease box.

A funeral "guide?"

"Full page graphic?"

"How and what to watch?"

They make it sound like a sporting event.

I'm afraid to open it up. There's probably a map of the proceedings with a little cartoon casket.

Man.

Happy 3:19 a.m.

Today's work is now behind me.

On to tomorrow.

And hey, if I don't take any time to eat, sleep or breathe, I may even be able to tighten up the lyrics and melody for Mr. Dan Sorensen's phatty phat drum track.

The rise of Babylon

Legend has it that when Otis Redding first heard Aretha Franklin sing his song "Respect," he said (admiringly):

"That girl stole my song!"

And as much of a genius as Mr. Redding was, he was right. After all, what percentage of America knows that Redding wrote it and had a hit with it first?

Well, Rosanne Raneri performed "Babylon" at "Why Can't I Be You" tonight.

'Nuff said.

Actually, it's not enough said: I'll post more on this later, but for now I'll just say that it was probably even more intense to hear Rosanne's interpretation of Katie Haverly's "15 Minutes." Katie was moved to tears.

For the record: I performed Mr. Dan Wilcox's haunting "Bagdhad/Albany" poem (first time I was able to read through it without literally breaking down... intense, intense, intense) and the great MotherJudge's "Woman of Mystery," which inspired the song "Babylon."

Full circle.

And oh yes: anticipating that TheHiddenCity cameras would once again head to the bar during my set (why are they never in the room when I'm on stage?), Mr. Eck offered this as consolation:
